It all started with our desire to upgrade to a king size bed. After considering what we would do with our old bed and how the kids' rooms would be affected, we pulled the trigger and bought a whole bedroom set. So what was supposed to be an easy upgrade turned into more of a whole room makeover. We finally settled on the furniture, so now my head is spinning with ideas. Should we go light and airy with our bed linens, keep the room a calm and serene place? Or should we have a bright and cheerful room fit for an active family of five? I'd say the answer was pretty clear. I love color, I love cozy, and I especially love that when my kids use our bed as a landing pad (happens more often than not), I won't cringe at the ketchup stains they left behind! Here is my inspiration for the finished room. Bright bedding, colorful side tables, and a touch of sophistication with the art deco mirror and mercury glass vases (strategically placed high enough to avoid those messy fingerprints). I'll be sure to update when it's all said and done. Happy Wednesday, friends!

Navy Print
Last week, we were blessed with sunny weather in the 60s for a few days and all I needed to keep me warm in the cool breeze was this graphic printed scarf wrapped around my neck. Sadly, the weather didn't last long, but I'll take whatever I can get!

Navy and Red
This color combo never gets old for me. A little preppy, a total classic and still on trend anytime of the year. I also am loving the layered sweater look you've been seeing everywhere. I did my own DIY version late last year, but love this Banana Republic one already built-in. See a couple more layered ones I found below and have a great Monday, friends!

Citrus
While I do love a classic neutral outfit, I've been leaning towards brighter colors this new year. And especially this citrus hue worn in the dead of winter instantly lifts my spirit and mood (a definite must on dreary days). Have a great weekend!

In(vest)ed
While back home in Chicago visiting family and friends recently, I scored big time in the vest department at Forever XXI (took full advantage of being child-less). And with the faux fur vest trend so hot right now, it's great to find one (or three) for a lot less than I've seen elsewhere. Plus, our winters in South Carolina are fairly mild, so these are the perfect outerwear add-ons to see me through till Spring.

Weekly Wednesdays: Goals for 2015
I've been blogging here for over a year now (see my first post here) and while I originally started this blog as an outlet to express my love of fashion, style and shopping, it's not a realistic picture of my daily life as a stay-at-home mother and wife. With that said, I plan on sharing more of my "real" life in addition to my daily wardrobe details. Hope you enjoy stopping by!
Here are a few other "goals" I have for myself this year:
Being Present
Whether I'm zoning out on my phone (have you tried Trivia Crack??) or needing to clean something in the house (let's face it, there's always something to clean), this year I'm going to spend more quality time with my husband and kids and less time being distracted.More Love
While I've never been a very affectionate person (I've only said "I love you" to one man in my life - my husband), I want to make the effort this year to show more love and emotion towards him as well as my children. More kisses, hugs, loving words and actions.
Eating Real Foods
I signed up for this program last week and while I won't be able to fully commit 100% (darn mini snickers are my weakness), I'm taking baby steps in making myself (and hopefully my family) healthier.Body Work
We don't have a gym membership, so I picked up running last year and started with fitness videos on You Tube. And just recently I discovered physical trainer's website. It not only kicks my tush, but I love that it's only 20 minutes and you don't need any equipment! I also plan on training for a half marathon sometime this year. But, much, much, much later this year ;)Skin Care
More sunscreen, weekly face masks (these inexpensive masks at Target are great), and maintaining a simplified makeup routine (love this vlogger's website)Read More
Just a few on my short list this year include Unbroken, Not That Kind of Girl and Drums of Autumn. Thanks for visiting here and Happy New Year!

Post-Holiday Plaid
Prior to the holidays, I found these ankle length plaid pants at Target with the intention of wearing them to a holiday party. But for whatever reason, I never did. So I'm back after the holidays (sorry for the radio silence - the holiday craze got to me big time this year), with a post-Christmas option in sporting these plaid trousers. Adding a lightweight denim jacket or chambray shirt with trendy sneakers makes them casual enough for daytime or footing a high heeled pump for a night out with friends. I hope to make even more use of these pants through the rest of winter. Happy Tuesday!
p.s. Didn't have a link to this lovely Page Sargisson necklace, so you can find it here!
