Found!

After several disappointments (see below) and a few surprises, I think I've found a great pair of skinnies. I tried several shops (both high and low price points) and have settled on the jegging from American Eagle. The fit, length, material and price are perfect! I'm saving up to get a couple pairs in different colors, because when you find something good, you don't want to let it go!

Legging jeans from Express (with son photobombing). For the price, I was not impressed with the quality and fit.

On the Hunt - Skinny Jeans

I'm on the hunt for the perfect pair of skinny jeans. I have two pairs that I regularly rotate (but noticing the shape, texture and color are fading fast) and about six more pairs that I don't like wearing, but do only because they're my only options. Here is my criteria:
  1. Comfort - I need a pair that stretches, breathes and doesn't constrict me. There are so many jean fabrics out there, no one pair is the same.
  2. Affordable - I'm aiming to spend no more than $50. While I understand this may limit my search, I'm confident I can find a great pair for less.
  3. Color - I'm looking for a darker rinse that will look chic with my everyday attire and also pulled together for date nights.
  4. Length - At 5'3", length is always an issue in finding a perfect pair of pants. I'm definitely open to tailoring a pair, but will also have to keep that in mind regarding budget as tailoring tends to add $15-20.
Over the next couple of weeks, I plan to try these styles.

p.s. I also spotted a great ankle length pair at Abercrombie & Fitch that I'll have to make a stop in to check out. So many options, so little time!

Blue Velvet

An otherwise classic cable knit sweater gets a little extra attention when adorned with a blue velvet ribbon in the back. Throw it on with a pair of polka dot skinnies and neutral booties to finish off an easy, pulled together daytime look.

Outfit details: The Limited sweater (sold out but similar), Old Navy jeans (old), Dolce Vita wedge booties, Marc Jacobs watch, Besame Mucho gold knot ring (boutique in Key West), diamond eternity ring (owned since childhood)

In Black and White

Dressing in black and white obviously has a slimming effect, but add in silhouetted side panels and boom - instant toning!

My Post-Christmas Wish List

Considering how much "stuff" we all received this Christmas, it's crazy to say I still have a wish list. But a girl can dream, right?

This striped, plush robe from Nordstrom is exactly what I need to keep me warm on chilly mornings.

I'm pretty sure I haven't bought a pair of high heels in over four years (who needs em when you're chasing after toddlers most days). But it's high time, I trade in my TOMS for a new pair of heels and these Mossimo pumps from Target are a perfect pair for date night!

I love the Nate Berkus collection at Target and these embellished and studded pillows would be a perfect replacement for the food-stained, germ infested ones I currently have laying around.

I can be very particular about my home decor and I've literally been searching for years for a good set of lamps for our bedside tables. And of course, I find some of all places at Target. Picture this with a crisp, white lampshade. Perfect for our bedroom suite.

During the Christmas holiday, I went to pull out our flour and sugar from the cabinet and realized I store each in extra large, bulky grocery bags. In order to avoid  the white stuff from dusting my entire kitchen, I'm looking to get organized with these Fiesta canisters

All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go

There is nothing wrong with a tuxedo t-shirt when you're this size! Teddy sporting his finest on New Year's Eve.
